Headstart

A full-day program giving final-year VCE students a head start to prepare for Year 12 Legal Studies.

What is Headstart?

Every December, we give final-year VCE Legal Studies students in regional Victoria the opportunity to get a head start on preparing for their exams and coursework.

Over the course of a day, school students get to visit their local courthouse, speak to legal professionals and get study tips from our teacher-in-residence. The day is tailored to final-year VCE students, with speakers directly addressing the Year 12 VCE Legal Studies curriculum.

Headstart is held in a different regional location each year and is held in a separate location to our Regional Law Talks to ensure we can reach as many regional students as possible.

Online videos are available as the in-person Headstart program is currently on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We have recorded a suite of online resources to substitute our usual on-site delivery. These videos, found below, can be used to assist in the delivery of your schools own Headstart program.

Who can attend?

We send invitations to schools within each Headstart region. Schools are chosen based on need. If you’d like to find out about getting your school on the mailing list for Headstart, send us an email.

How much does it cost?

Headstart is a free event.
