Comview is the annual conference for legal studies and commerce teachers, and is organised by their peak body the VCTA (Victorian Commercial Teachers Association). This year, Comview ran over two days on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November. The foundation’s education team was delighted to share a stand for the second year running with the team from the Alternative Law Journal.
It was a very busy event with a great atmosphere and over 790 teachers in attendance. Around a dozen talks ran consecutively during each of the four sessions on both days, making it a mammoth organisational task, but one that ran seamlessly.
The feedback from teachers who used the foundation’s publications was resoundingly positive, and there was a high degree of interest in the various Law Talks programs, both from those who had previously participated and those who were hearing about them for the first time.
We also registered to attend the conference sessions, and were impressed by the quality of the speakers and the wide range of topics covered. There were great sessions about the Victoria Police forensic unit, VCAT, marriage equality, domestic violence, the Bali executions and the recent work of the Victoria Law Reform Commission. There were also numerous sessions relating to the curriculum, assessment, and civics and citizenship resources. All the sessions were well attended and the audiences were fully engaged.
