Law Week 2020 has officially ended!
Our first online Law Week was a great success. I’d like to thank everyone who attended a webinar, watched on-demand content, or signed up for a free legal consultation.
This year more people had the opportunity to attend Law Week events than ever before, with people in regional areas having unprecedented access to some of our biggest events, and some events even attracting attendees from other states and countries!
Our 40th anniversary year wasn’t exactly what we had envisaged, but what 2020 has shown us is the enduring importance of Law Week. It has never been more important to help Victorians understand how the law affects their lives and how they can get the help they need.
A massive thank you to all our event partners who managed to adapt or create events to suit the new format. Over 100 organisations contributed to Law Week this year, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to our community.
A special mention to our Festival Sponsors: the City of Melbourne, Victoria Legal Aid and Law Institute of Victoria; and our Festival Supporters: Deakin Law School, Victorian Ombudsman, the Victorian Bar and the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Without their generous support, Law Week 2020 would not have been possible.
We look forward to seeing you all again – and hopefully face-to-face – for Law Week 2021!
Lynne Haultain, Victoria Law Foundation Executive Director
